First grade homework is to spend time reading each night, make a "homework menu" choice, and practice spelling words.
Your child should spend a minimum of 10 minutes reading (or being read to) four nights each week. They should record the books they read on their reading log.
Each night your child should choose a box on the homework menu, complete that activity, and color in the box. Then they should practice their spelling words, choosing one of the activities listed on the menu.
All homework should be completed in their binder. I will collect binders every Friday and return them that day. Homework only needs to be done 4 nights each week, so do it on the nights that work for your family (For example, if weekends are better for you, do your homework on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and that only leaves one additional night of work during the school week. If weekends are busy for you, have your child do their work Monday-Thursday).
Binders should come to school every day, as their home-school communication folder is part of the binder.
